Band of Native American Veterans
Statement of Purpose
1.  It shall be the purpose of the BAND OF NATIVE AMERICAN VETERANS to help serve the needs of all Native American veterans and their families and to respond positively to every request for help as is feasible with the resources at our disposal.        

2. To enroll all Native American veterans who have honorably served in every branch of the military. To provide for their needs as is possible with the resources at our disposal, including researching and directing them to medical facilities, transportation to such facilities, direct them to alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities and food pantries.
 
3. To provide a color guard comprising of two rifleman and a United States Flag bearer and a POW/MIA Flag bearer.

4. To provide flags of the United States Armed Forces that will include the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard to be used at all function attended by the BAND.

5. To provide a bugler to play taps at the funeral of a deceased veteran.
 
6. To provide security at sponsored events where the BAND OF NATIVE AMERICAN VETERANS is participating.
        
Aid Application Criteria
1.  All Veterans and family members needing aid must apply at the office of the BAND but the Band will make every effort to secure the help asked for.

2.  The Band will assist in making final arrangements after the demise of one of its members in as much as it is able. A color guard will be provided if one is active and a bugler will be provided if one is trained to handle such duties. OF NATIVE AMERICAN VETERANS.

3.  The BAND will make every effort to help locate the help needed in a timely manner. It must be understood that there are no guarantees made by the Band
Band Enrollment
1.  Every veteran wishing membership in the BAND OF NATIVE AMERICAN VETERANS must file an application with an active or authorized member of the Band. The application must include the name, rank and serial number , branch of service, date of enlistment and rank and date of discharge.

2.  The veteran will receive a copy of the application at the time he files the application and will receive a certificate by mail at the address of his choice. His name will be entered in the BAND'S computer and the veteran will be notified by e-mail or mail as to the next meetings.        
Band of Native American Veterans Regalia

1.  Each member of the band will wear a green beret. The commander of the band and the commanders of each branch of the military will  wear a red beret.         

2.  Each member of the BAND will wear a  breach-cloth. On the breach-cloth, they will wear their decorations. This will include their rank, military cap emblem, unit citations, presidential unit citation, campaign ribbon and all other decorations that were awarded to them during their tour of duty. Each member will be responsible for obtaining his or her beret. They can be purchased at any Army-Navy store. The breach-cloth can be purchased from the Four Winds Store in Gyundotte, West Virginia.

    *If you need help in acquiring your ribbons and medals, contact twobears1930@yahoo.com. All medals not requiring an awards letter, such as the bronze star, silver star, etc., can be obtained if we have your name , rank and serial number.
Wives of Native American Veterans
1.  Wives of Native American veterans are considered to have contributed to the war effort and will be recognized also. Certificates will be awarded to each of the wives when the veteran himself requests one.

2.  The name of the wives will be "LADY HAWKS".
Nell Cremeans has been elected to head the women's group of the Band. If they wish to wear berets, they may choose to do so . This is something they have to decide amongst themselves.

3.  The color of their berets must not clash with or be of the same color of the berets worn by members of the BAND. They do not fall under the jurisdiction of the Band and thus are not covered by the authority of any of its commanders.

4.  The husbands of the Lady Hawks are responsible for the conduct of their wives.

  **The rank held at discharge will be honored and all officers will rate a salute by their subordinates.  Women veterans will hold the same place in the Band and all privileges their male counterparts rate. The women will have their own unit/branch commanders, but will still be under the overall  command of the BAND COMMANDER.

Any complaint must go first through their unit commander and the unit commander will address it with the BAND COMMANDER.

Code of Conduct for Band Members
1.  Each member will respect the authority of their commanders. Each commander will respect the rights of the men under his charge. The members will not infringe on the rights and customs of their brothers and will respect the mates of the members and will conduct themselves as gentlemen. Vulgarity in the presence of women is not a good sign of gentlemanly attributes. Stealing and the use of alcohol and drugs at gatherings is cause for dismissal from the BAND.                

2.  A member must attend at least 50% of scheduled meetings to remain active in the Band.

This document covers the initial rules but is not a complete document. It is intended to cover the conduct required to start this organization and additional rules and regulations will be added as needed.
                                                                                            
This document and the formation of THE BAND OF NATIVE AMERICAN VETERANS is adopted by acclamation of the commanders of the BAND and officers of the Native American Indian Federation. The Native American Indian Federation will be the guardian of the BAND OF NATIVE AMERICAN VETERANS and they and the commanders of the BAND will formulate any and all future policies and rules as are required for the successful accomplishment of all its goals.

This Band will include Native American descendants who are not necessarily BIA members.
